If you need a physical copy of your document, printing from Google Docs is quick and straightforward. You can print directly from your browser in just a few steps.
Print your document using the File menu
This is the easiest and most common method:
- Open your document in Google Docs
- Click on File in the top menu
- Select Print
- A print preview window will open
- Choose your printer and adjust settings like:
- Pages (all or specific pages)
- Copies
- Layout (portrait or landscape)
- Click Print
Your document will be sent to the selected printer.
Use the keyboard shortcut (faster way)
If you want to print quickly:
- Press Ctrl + P (Windows)
- Press Cmd + P (Mac)
This will directly open the print preview screen.
Adjust print settings before printing
Before printing, you can customize:
- Margins
- Paper size
- Color or black & white
- Scale and layout
This helps ensure your document prints exactly how you want.
Save as PDF instead of printing
If you don’t need a physical copy:
- Go to File → Print
- In the destination, select Save as PDF
- Click Save
This will download your document as a PDF file.
Quick tip
If your document doesn’t look right in print preview, check:
- Margins and page setup
- Page breaks
- Formatting issues
Fixing these before printing can save paper and time.
